In a time of numerous global threats such as terrorism, armed conflicts or uncontrolled mass migrations, how to protect the E.U. populations, their freedoms and interests, and their social model? And how to achieve this by respecting E.U.’s core values of democracy, rule of law, respect of human rights and the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law? These are some of the topics to be discussed by speakers Mr. Victor Ângelo, Former Special Representative of the U.N. Secretary-General (Peacekeeping Operations); and Mr. Nico Segers, Expert in European Security and Defense, and Envoy for Youth Atlantic Treaty Association, at a conference organized under E.U.’s Jean Monnet Programme. Mr. Stan Verhoeven, Assistant Professor at the University of Macau, will chair this session.
