EUAP-M MARKS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH A TALK ON GENDER POLITICS

To celebrate the International Women’s Day, the European Union Academic Programme in Macao (EUAP-M) organizes on 4 March a seminar entitled “Gender Politics in Contemporary Macau and Europe” by Prof. Agnes Lam and Prof. Tony Schirato. The seminar is from 3pm to 5pm at the Tai Fung Lecture Hall, G051 room, E4 building, the University of Macau (UM).
Agnes Lam is Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and an Assistant Professor at its Department of Communication. She is currently conducting research, inter alia, about the status of women in Macau.
Tony Schirato is a Full Professor and head of the Department of Communication at the Faculty of Social Sciences of UM. His main research topics include gender theory, the work of Pierre Bourdieu, and sport and digital media.
The seminar is conducted in English and moderated by Ms. Maria João Caetano, editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper “Ponto Final”. All are welcome.
The International Women’s Day is observed worldwide on 8 March. The theme for this year is “Make It Happen: Celebrate women’s achievements, call for greater equality”.
The EUAP-M is a partnership between the European Union (EU), the University of Macau and the Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM). Established in 2012 and with the EU as one of its main funding contributors, EUAP-M aims to enhance Macau as a research hub of EU-related affairs and familiarize the general public, in particular students across all levels, with the EU.
