CALL FOR APPLICATION FOR FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME FOR VISITING SCHOLARS OF EUROPEAN UNION STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MACAU IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2015 – 2016

2015-02-16 - 2019-01-01.

The European Union Academic Programme in Macao (EUAP-Macao) invites applications for the fellowship programme for visiting scholars. The EUAP-Macao was established in 2012, as a consortium of the University of Macau (UM) and the Macau Institute of European Studies (IEEM). It is jointly sponsored by the European Union and the University of Macau, with the mission to disseminate the knowledge, deepening the understanding and promote the visibility of the European Union in the Macao Special Administrative Region, China.
Specialists of EU affairs from various disciplines of social sciences are welcome to apply for the fellowship programme, but we give our preference to those with academic background in politics, international relations, or public policy and, in particular, with expertise in European foreign policy (defined in a broad way), EU-China, and EU-East Asia relations. Invited scholars are expected to contribute to our research and teaching of EU related affairs at the University of Macau in such activities as discussing with our faculty members on researches for possible collaboration, presenting their project on seminar, giving a lecture to our students. They should also be willing to participate in EU-related outreach activities with the local community, for example, roundtable discussion and media interview.
Selected applicants are invited for a visit of one or two months in the academic year of 2015 -2016, although the exact duration of the visit is negotiable. Visiting scholars will receive a financial support of 3,000 euros for each full month stay, in form of honorarium and subsistence, together with a roundtrip air ticket at economical class (usually not more than 1000 euros). In addition, we will also assist visiting scholars with accommodation, for example, arranging a room at the University hostel with a preferential rate. The invited scholars will be provided with office space, internet and library access, etc.
Applicants should submit the following documents:
--- A motivation letter, explaining the purpose, proposed plan, and possible contribution;
--- A detailed CV, listing the expertise, publications, and professional experiences;
--- A list of three references.
The selection panel reviews applications on the rolling basis, but those applications received before the end of September 2015 will be given priority for consideration. Successful applicants are selected on basis of their expertise, motivation and possible contribution to the EUAP-Macao. We will notify the result normally in one month after we receive your application. Interested colleagues are welcome to make an enquiry before application.
